Ulaanbaatar City is set to inaugurate a modern and international-standard library, offering a wide range of services to the public. The new library, which will be located next to the Ulaanbaatar Public Library, is scheduled to open nex February.

This project is part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s program in overseas libraries initiative. The building will span 2,500 square meters across four floors. Each floor will cater to different age groups and provide tailored cultural and reading services. In addition to traditional library offerings, the facility will include a cafe, scheduled author meet-and-greets, book launches, digital kiosks, and a dedicated space for preschool-aged children.

According to A.Amartuvshin, the Deputy Mayor of Ulaanbaatar Responsible for Social Affairs, Green Development, and Environmental Issues, “We expect the external construction of the building to be completed by November. Interior work, including finishing touches and installation of technical equipment, will be finished by February 1 next year. Furthermore, as part of the project, library staff will undergo a three-phase professional training program in South Korea. This will mark an important step in advancing the level of library services in Mongolia.”

The new library is expected to further elevate the cultural and educational standards in Ulaanbaatar, ensuring that it remains a central hub for knowledge, innovation, and accessibility for all citizens.
