Forum on East Asia and Latin America Cooperation to be co-chaired

Mongolia has been selected to co-chair the Forum on East Asia and Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) for the 2025-2027 term, alongside the Dominican Republic. The announcement was made following the 23rd meeting of the Forum’s Senior Officials, which recently took place online.

The FEALAC Forum, which was established in 1999, aims to enhance cooperation, mutual understanding, and foster political and economic dialogue between East Asia and Latin America. It is traditionally co-chaired by two member countries, one from East Asia and one from Latin America, for a two-year term.

Currently, the forum consists of 36 countries, 16 from East Asia and 20 from Latin America, accounting for approximately 40 percent of the world's population, 35 percent of global GDP, and 33 percent of international trade. Mongolia has been an active member of this multilateral platform since joining during the fourth FEALAC foreign ministers' meeting in Tokyo in 2010 and through this leadership role, Mongolia is set to play a key part in further strengthening relations and cooperation between the two regions over the next two years, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
