AI program for traffic police introduced

The Capital City’s Council and the National Center for Crime Prevention have handed over the “MD-Video AI” software to the Traffic Police Department. This software is utilized by law enforcement agencies in 76 countries worldwide, marking a significant step forward in crime prevention and investigation technology.

The “MD-Video AI” program will be instrumental in enhancing investigations by improving the quality of footage from surveillance cameras that fail to meet standards. It can clarify unclear video footage, identify suspects’ faces and other objects more easily and effectively, and aid in solving crimes by gathering essential evidence. This tool is particularly valuable in the investigation of accidents and other criminal activities.

The software has the added benefit of being able to recover essential programs, images, and videos from damaged or unusable mobile phones, a critical asset in criminal investigations. By integrating this advanced technology into the operations of the police, it will help reduce time and fuel costs, alleviate the workload of officers, and improve the efficiency of crime detection and evidence gathering.

At the handover ceremony, the Governor of the Capital City and the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar City, Kh.Nyambaatar highlighted the progress being made in the capital city’s surveillance infrastructure. “Currently, 2,606 cameras are operational across 176 intersections and traffic points in Ulaanbaatar, all monitored by the capital’s unified camera control center. This control center is equipped with AI software that enables it to detect crimes and violations. With the addition of the ‘MD-Video AI’ program, we are now able to gather more precise information. This represents a significant technological advancement in our efforts to ensure public safety,” he said.

In addition to the software, high-performance computer hardware will also be provided to support the program, funded through the Governor’s contingency budget. This investment will further enhance the capabilities of the Traffic Police Department and other law enforcement bodies in the capital.

Lieutenant Colonel V.Khosbayar, Head of the Traffic Police Department’s Investigation Division, emphasized the importance of collecting and strengthening evidence in the fight against crime. “In the past, many business surveillance cameras failed to meet quality standards, which often caused delays in investigations and hindered our ability to gather vital evidence. By implementing this new software, we will be able to recover valuable evidence more efficiently, which will greatly assist in protecting the rights of citizens and ensuring justice is served,” he stated.

With the introduction of the MD-Video AI program, Ulaanbaatar is taking a significant step forward in its fight against crime, using cutting-edge technology to streamline investigations and enhance the effectiveness of its law enforcement agencies.
