According to a recent study conducted by the National Police Agency, children are most vulnerable to crime during specific times of the day. Alarmingly, over 90 percent of these cases were found to be the result of negligence on the part of parents or guardians. The research highlighted that physical abuse, neglect, and lack of attention or supervision are the primary factors contributing to children falling victim to criminal cases or accidents.
In response to these findings, the National Police Agency, in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia and the support of mobile network operators, has launched a nationwide awareness initiative aimed at reducing risks towards children. The campaign involves sending regular SMS alerts directly to the mobile phones of parents, guardians, and children themselves.
The message, which reads, “Do you know where your child is right now? Please do not neglect your care and attention” will be sent two to three times per week over the course of two months. The goal of the initiative is not only to raise awareness among adults about their responsibilities but also to evaluate whether these timely reminders help reduce the number of cases involving children.
Authorities hope the campaign will serve as a wake-up call for families to be more vigilant and proactive in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of their children—especially during high-risk hours when they are most exposed to potential harm.
