The third Winter Horse Festival will take place in Altanbulag soum of Tuv Province, on February 18 and 19, sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
During the event, visitors will have the chance to see traditional methods for herding horses and watch competitions between horsemen.
In addition to uurga (lasso pole) contests and the presentation of prizes for the best and the bravest horseman of the festival, the event will include a horse ballad singing competition, racing, a photo exhibition, and equestrian performances.
The founder of the festival and head of Munkh Khariltsaa NGO (Eternal Communication), E.Tserenbat said, “Looking at international experiences, we can attract tourists after organizing any event for at least five consecutive years. Tourists from over 10 countries have registered to attend the third Winter Horse Festival. This is great news for Mongolia. This shows that our event is already fulfilling its purpose: to develop winter tourism in Mongolia. Rural artisans will display their handmade products, souvenirs, and handcrafts during the festival in order to offer the traditional arts to tourists.”
