In February, 21,106 tourists crossed the Mongolian border, a 13 percent increase from the previous year.
Among the total number of visitors, 39 percent were from China, nearly 32 percent were from Russia, and almost 10 percent were from South Korea. Following them were tourists from Japan, Australia, the United States, and France.
To boost winter tourism, various cultural events showcasing Mongolia’s traditions and heritage have been organized in both Ulaanbaatar and regional areas, which have positively impacted the increase in tourist numbers. Currently, the “Khukh Suvd-Blue Pearl” ice festival is taking place, and early next month, Ulaanbaatar will host an event for the prestigious animal, eagle. These efforts are aimed at promoting Mongolia’s rich cultural experiences, attracting more tourists, and expanding the country’s tourism offerings during the winter months.
