‘Ulaanbaatar League’ concludes

The “Ulaanbaatar League” Basketball Tournament, a highly anticipated annual event among Ulaanbaatar’s secondary school students, has reached its exhilarating final stage, with the championship matches set to finish today. This year, the competition has been fiercer than ever, as 96 teams and 1,152 students from schools across the capital city’s nine districts battle for glory.

Launched in 2009, the “Ulaanbaatar League” was established with the vision of nurturing the physical development of youth, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship, and igniting a passion for basketball. More importantly, the tournament serves as a platform to discover and cultivate young athletes with the potential to represent Mongolia in international competitions.

The current season tipped off in December 2023 and has unfolded over the course of three thrilling months. From the outset, the numbers were staggering—8,208 teams representing 192 schools and 90,550 students entered the tournament. Competing across three age categories and four intense stages, these young athletes displayed remarkable skill and determination, with only the top 96 teams earning a place in the finals.

As the competition nears its climax, the league continues to inspire the next generation of basketball stars, uniting students, schools, and communities in a shared celebration of athleticism, ambition, and teamwork.
