School holiday schedule announced

In the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year, the school holiday schedule has been carefully designed to accommodate the needs of students across Mongolia, with specific differences between urban and rural schools.

For students in Ulaanbaatar and other urban areas, the second-term break will officially begin on April 7. However, prior to the holiday, from March 31 to April 4, a “self-study week” will take place. During this period, schools will not hold traditional in-person classes. Instead, students will be encouraged to participate in a range of extracurricular activities designed to promote personal growth and development outside the classroom. These activities may include visits to museums, attending live performances, and engaging in sports programs, offering students a well-rounded learning experience during the break. The third term of the school year will begin on April 14, with students returning to their regular class schedules.

On the other hand, rural schools will follow a slightly different schedule. In these areas, the self-study week will take place earlier, from March 24 to March 28. The second-term break for rural students will then run from March 31 to April 11, offering them a slightly longer holiday period compared to their urban counterparts. Classes in rural schools will also resume on April 14.

This tailored approach to the school calendar reflects the unique conditions and logistical considerations of both urban and rural regions, ensuring that all students have access to enriching educational experiences during the holiday period. The decision also provides families with ample time to plan activities that foster both academic growth and personal development during the break.

With these adjustments, the Ministry of Education aims to support a balanced educational experience that integrates learning, personal development, and community engagement for students throughout Mongolia.
