Mongolia seizes gold and silver medals at Poland Open 2016

B.Shoovdor B.Shoovdor[/caption]                 Mongolian freestyle wrestler P.Orkhon won a gold medal and B.Shoovdor claimed a silver medal in the women’s 60 kg division at the 20th Poland Open. The two-day international tournament concluded on June 19, in Spala, Poland. Five female wrestlers competed in the 60 kg division. International Sports Master P.Orkhon easily cleared her first and second matches against two Polish wrestlers. In the third round she was defeated 4:2 by Poland’s Katarzyna Madrowska. In the final round, P.Orkhon was up against fellow Mongolian wrestler B.Shoovdor. Although the match ended in a draw, P.Orkhon won for technicalsuperiority, earning her gold and B.Shoovdor silver. Polish wrestlers Katarzyna Madrowska and Kubatu Natalia tied for third place in the women’s 60 kg division. P.Orkhon seized a silver medal in the 2014 Poland Open, and this year she has taken her performance up a notch. The 23-year-old has been on a roll, grabbing gold medals from every competition she has participated in this year, including the Mongolian State Championship, Italy’s Sassari City Memorial Matteo Pellicone 2016, and Russia’s Ivan Yarygin Golden Grand Prix. P.Orkhon earned her Olympic qualification in the women’s 58 kg division after capturing a silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Wrestling Asian Qualification Tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan.
