The Ulaanbaatar Book Fair will be organized on May 20 and 21 at Chinggis Square in relation to International Book Day.
The purpose of the event is to increase people’s interest in books, encourage residents to read and learn to enjoy books, and attract readers all over the world to Mongolia as part of the Friendly Ulaanbaatar Program.
Many measures have been planned for the Ulaanbaatar Book Fair, including an international cultural exhibition, open book discussion, a “Reading Celebration” event, an honorary measure for senior readers, plays based on books, Library Day, competitions and more.
Publishing companies will offer 20 to 50 percent discounts on their books at the fair. Organizers invited famous novelists to the event, giving book lovers the chance to personally meet with authors and get their books signed.
They also launched a campaign to gather new books for the Children’s Book Corner in Chingeltei District with the goal to promote good-will activities for the society.
Representatives from libraries in Ulaanbaatar, embassies, publishing companies, universities, government, and nongovernment organizations, as well as authors, will take part in the fair.
