MWF announces doping violations in 5 wrestlers

The Mongolian Wrestling Federation (MWF) has issued an official statement through its website, addressing disciplinary actions taken in accordance with international and national anti-doping regulations.

According to the announcement, in March, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), together with other relevant bodies, instructed the federation to initiate Results Management procedures for five wrestlers who were found to have violated anti-doping rules during competitions held between 2022 and 2023. These actions are being implemented under the framework of the World Anti-Doping Code and Mongolia’s National Anti-Doping Rules.

The Results Management process includes formally recording the doping violations of the involved athletes—who allegedly used banned substances or methods while competing in traditional Mongolian wrestling—into WADA’s global anti-doping database. In line with these procedures, the federation reviewed each case and submitted the corresponding decisions to the Mongolian National Anti-Doping Agency.

The federation noted that the athletes concerned will have the right to appeal the decision within 21 days from the date the national anti-doping body officially receives the report.

This move reflects Mongolia’s efforts to align its national sports governance with global anti-doping standards and to ensure fair competition within the country's revered traditional wrestling sport.
