By the initiative of former President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj, “Script of Eternal Sky” annual Mongolian calligraphy exhibition opened for the public at the newly opened Ord Art Gallery of the Mongolian Children’s Creative Center on November 17 at 12:00 p.m. This exhibition is dedicated to the 855th anniversary of Chinggis Khaan’s birth and National Pride Day. "Script of Eternal Sky 2017" is showcasing Mongolian traditional script calligraphic pieces created by eight distinguished artists and 55 school children. President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga, Chief of Staff of the President’s Office Z.Enkhbold, advisers to the President Ts.Khulan and T.Tegshjargal, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Yo.Otgonbayar, First Laureate of the Asian Literature Award poet D.Uriankhai, People’s Teacher of Mongolia Ts.Unurbayan, State Honored Artist Sh.Chimeddorj and scholars and professors from the Academy of Sciences, National University of Mongolia and the Mongolian National University of Education, as well as representatives of scholars and authors of linguistics, culture and history fields, and students from general education schools and universities attended the opening ceremony. The President presented prizes to children who created the best calligraphic pieces for the exhibition, while expressing his gratitude for the 13 and 14-year-olds for mastering the traditional script and putting their talents into art form. After getting acquainted with activities of the center, the President wished success to the students and instructed the tutors to teach their classes in more contemporary and creative manner. To promote the use of Mongolian traditional script, Selenge, Bayankhongor, Dundgovi, Arkhangai and Orkhon provinces, and Baganuur District previously hosted the exhibition, and organized courses and lectures about Mongolian calligraphy. Former President Ts.Elbegdorj issued a decree in 2010 to hold this exhibition every year to restore the usage of Mongolian traditional script.
