The Mongolian cheerleading team comprised of 20 young contestants competed in the Asian Cheerleading Championships 2017 for the first time, which was held at Komazawa Olympic Park in Tokyo, Japan on October 21 and 22. The Mongolian team won a gold medal in the team cheer hip-hop category and a silver medal in the team cheer freestyle pom category. Galt Shuvuu (phoenix) dance crew established the Mongolian Cheerleading Dance Federation to develop cheerleading in Mongolia and entered as the 100th official member of the International Federation of Cheerleading. Over 40 teams from eight countries participated in the Asian Championships and the Mongolian team will return home next week.
