Starting last September, the Mongolian National Olympic Committee started awarding the best athletes of the month. The best athletes of September were announced on October 24.
World Chess Federation’s (FIDE) master D.Batsuren, who won a gold medal in the open U14 category of the 2017 World Youth Chess Championship, held in Montevideo, Uruguay from September 16 to 26, was named the best athlete of September.
More than 1,500 sports enthusiasts took part in the poll to choose the best athletes.
According to the result of the poll, D.Batsuren gained most votes over other prominent nominees such as yokozuna Harumafuji D.Byambadorj, gold medalist of Ashgabat 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games M.Ankhtsetseg.
D.Batsuren was followed by the Mongolian 3x3 basketball team, and last month’s best athlete and winner of World Military Wrestling Championship P.Orkhon.
The Mongolian National Olympic Committee holds the awards every month with the purpose to value sports achievements, popularize athletes promoting Mongolia to the world and support sports activities among the public.
The best athletes of October will be announced in late November.
