Bayanzurkh District has opened a 1.2-kilometer road between Narantuul Market and Tsagaan Khuaran Town to tackle traffic in the area. Lord Sky and Bunbat Davaa companies spent 986 million MNT to construct the road. Reportedly, the district plans to boost traffic flow towards the eastern side of the city by up to 20 percent by connecting the new road to the Officers’ Palace, reported P.Bayarkhuu, the Deputy Mayor of Ulaanbaatar in charge of infrastructure and ger area development.At the opening ceremony, Member of Parliament B.Saranchimeg said, “I was elected from Bayanzurkh District through the 2016 parliamentary election. Locals used to ask me to repair this part of the road every time I met them. The construction has completely finished now. They were pleased to get these problems resolved and get a new road with street lights and sidewalks. Head of the Ulaanbaatar Road Development Office J.Togtokhbayar commented, “Road construction work is still underway in the capital. The construction of a road between the Hospital for Injury and Trauma and bus terminal of the 3rd and 4th khoroolol was completed today. This road used to have two lanes for two directions but now it has been expanded to nine meters wide with three lanes for two directions. It will be expanded for 1st khoroolol-21st khoroolol-Tolgoit- Orbit-Nairamdal route and connected to Darkhan road in the long run. This way, the city will have two roads towards the western side of the country and we believe that it will reduce traffic by 30 to 40 percent.”
