The National Statistics Office (NSO) reported that the average monthly household income of the nation had become 926,400 MNT, a 52,000 MNT increase compared to 2016. The average increase of salary by 23,300 MNT or 4.8 percent a month and the surge in welfare by 23,900 MNT or 14.9 percent have been the main factors for the increase. Just as revenue increased by 52,000 MNT, the average household expenditure increased by 53,100 MNT, effectively negating the increase in income. As of the second quarter of 2017, the average monthly expenditure of a household is one million MNT. The increase in spending of non-essential products and services by 43,500 was cited as the main reason for the increased by the NSO.
