Nearly 20,000 children register in kindergarten

As of August 15, 19,454 children or 50 percent of children eligible to enter kindergartens in Ulaanbaatar had enrolled in a public kindergarten for the upcoming academic year using the new online registration system. Officials reminded that parents and guardians experiencing problems with the online registration system can now get assistance from teachers and staff with their child’s enrollment by directly visiting kindergartens. Public kindergartens that exceed the class-size limitation will hold an online enrollment draw on August 25 at 10:00 a.m. to ensure fair selection. A notification of acceptance or non-acceptance to kindergarten will be sent to parents via text message. Parents and guardians can also check details about their child’s enrollment online without having to go through the trouble of going to kindergartens for clarification. Registration for children, aged between three and five who are applying to the same kindergarten as last year, will be conducted in the traditional manner from August 21 to 24. In other words, parents or guardians of these children must personally register their child at the kindergarten they used to attend. The online kindergarten registration was initiated by the government this year to improve accessibility, reduce burden, and speed up kindergarten registration process. It has been running since July 25 and is scheduled to close on August 24.
