UB Garuda made history at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Utsunomiya Masters, held in Utsunomiya, Japan on July 29 and 30, by coming in fourth place out of world’s top 12 teams.
In the first appearance of a Mongolian team at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, UB Garuda first knocked out the reigning World Tour champion Ljubljana of Slovenia, and lost to Okayama of Japan in the pool phase before going to the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, UB Garuda beat Serbian team Zemun 13-10.
The Mongolian team then faced three-time world champion Novi Sad Al Wahda of United Arab Emirates in the semi-finals and lost 11-18.
The competition’s first place went to Novi Sad Al Wahda, which was followed by Piran of Slovenia and Liman of Serbia.
UB Garuda consisted of International Sports Master D.Delgernyam, E.Dulguun, G.Tsenguunbayar and E.Tserenbaatar.
