The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Ts.Munkh-Orgil met the Mongolian artists who be participating in the 2017 La Biennale di Venezia 2017 (Venice Biennale 2017) and documenta 14, a contemporary art exhibition, on April 21.

Five Mongolian artists, State Honored Artist Ch.Chimeddorj, O.Enkhtaivan, G.Munkhbolor, J.Bolortuvshin, and Ts.Davaajargal, will represent Mongolia at the Venice Biennale this year. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Ts.Munkh-Orgil has been serving as a commissioner of the Mongolian Pavilion.

During his meeting with the artists on April 21, Minister Ts.Munkh-Orgil expressed his gratitude to the Mongolian Contemporary Art Support Association for supporting Mongolian artists.

The Mongolian Contemporary Art Support Association has been selected to act as the Venice Biennale and Documenta’s official Mongolian partner.

Venice Biennale 2017 will hold its 57th international art exhibition from May 13 to November 26, with the inclusion of five Mongolian artists.Mongolian artists are taking part in the Venice Mongolian artists are taking part in the Venice Biennale for the second time, after first taking part in 2015. The Mongolian pavilion will host “Lost in Tngri” (Lost in Heaven), an exhibition about the frailty of human nature and its effect upon society and the environment. O.Enkhtaivan and J.Bolortuvshin will present video works, while Ch.Chimeddorj and G.Munkhbolor will bring sculptural installations. Ts.Davaajargal will present a series of haunting sound installations that bring together sounds from nature and traditional and electronic music. Mongolian artists B.Nomin and Ts.Ariuntugs will participate in documenta 14, a contemporary art exhibition which takes place every five years in Kassel, Germany, by the invitation of curator Adam Szymczyk. . The 14th documenta exhibition, also known as the “museum of 100 days”, will be organized from June 10 to September 17. Last October, documenta curators visited Mongolia for the first time and decided to invite two Mongolian artists to participate in the 2017 exhibition. Documenta is considered as one of the world’s three major contemporary art events after the Venice Biennale and Art Basel.
