HAKUHO M.DAVAAJARGAL REPEATS HISTORIC SUCCESS OF LATE CHIYONOFUJI MITSUGU

Mongolian yokozuna (grand champion) of Japanese professional sumo Hakuho M.Davaajargal claimed his 1,045th victory during the Nagoya Basho (July tournament) on July 17. Hakuho M.Davaajargal is tied with late yokozuna Chiyonofuji Mitsugu’s record of 1045 wins and he is currently ranked second among professional sumo wrestlers with the most victories. Japanese former professional sumo wrestler ozeki Kaio is ranked first with 1,047 wins. On Day 9 of Nagoya Basho, Hakuho M.Davaajargal claimed his 1045th win by beating Kagayaki Taishi. After earning his 1,045th win, Hakuho said, “I want to share my happiness with all Mongolians. A son of Mongolia has reached the same level as two legendary Japanese sumo champions.”
