Skier B.Uyanga claims gold medal at Special Olympics 2017

Mongolian athlete B.Uyanga won a gold medal in the women’s cross country skiing 50m event of the Austria 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games, which commenced on March 15. In the men’s cross country skiing 50m category, another Mongolian athlete, M.Gantumur, seized a bronze medal. Two silver medals were won by B.Oyunbileg in the women’s snowshoeing 100m race and S.Temuulen in the men’s snowshoeing 25m race. Mongolia is being represented by 14 athletes, aged between 15 and 21, at the tournament, which will conclude on March 25. Mongolian athletes are competing in the floor hockey, snowshoeing and cross country skiing tournaments. Over 3,000 athletes from 107 countries are competing in the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2017.
