TS.URANCHIMEG APPOINTED CULTURAL AMBASSADOR OF MONGOLIA

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg handed a certificate of cultural ambassador of Mongolia to art critic and lecturer of the University of California Ts.Uranchimeg on December 26. As a cultural ambassador of Mongolia, Ts.Urantsetseg will be responsible for promoting the culture, art and history of Mongolia abroad, and strengthening bilateral relations between Mongolia and other countries in an unofficial capacity. Ts.Uranchimeg studied Mongolian art at the Mongolian University of Arts and Culture, European art at ELTE University of Budapest in Hungary, Asian arts at the Sophia University in Tokyo, and she did her Ph.D. at the University of California, specializing in history of art of Mongolia and Himalayas. Currently, she is a lecturer at the University of California in Berkeley. She has curated Mongolian exhibitions at international events since 1997. In 2012, she curated for the Mongolia Pavilion in the ninth Shanghai Biennale. Ts.Uranchimeg is the fifth Mongolian to become a cultural ambassador of Mongolia. The 69th yokozuna (sumo grand champion) Hakuho M.Davaajargal, Olympic gold and silver medalist judoka N.Tuvshinbayar, ballet dancer D.Altankhuyag and opera singer E.Amartuvshin are Mongolia’s other cultural ambassadors.
