The first female Mongolian mountaineer to climb Mount Everest, State Honored Athlete B.Gangaamaa conquered the highest summit of Indonesia’s Mount Carstensz, the Carstensz Pyramid (also known as Puncak Jaya), on July 8. B.Gangaamaa became the first Mongolian to raise the state flag of Mongolia on the Carstensz Pyramid after leaving for Indonesia on June 26. B.Gangaamaa wrote on her Facebook page, “I started my journey to conquer Carstensz Pyramid 20 days ago. Mount Carstensz was different from other mountains that I’ve climbed before. It was rockier. I became the first Mongolian to conquer this summit. I am very happy. People say climbing Carstensz Pyramid is hard. I felt that myself. I arrived at Carstensz Pyramid at 10:01 a.m. on July 8.” At 4,884 meters above sea level, Carstensz Pyramid is the tallest mountain in Indonesia, the tallest on the island of New Guinea, the tallest in Oceania, and the fifth tallest mountain in South-east Asia. It is also the highest point between the Himalayas and the Andes, and the highest island peak in the world. B.Gangaamaa has climbed Mount Everest (8,848 m), Mount Aconcagua (6,962 m), Mount  McKinley (6,194 m), Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m) and Mount Elbrus (5,642 m). Currently, she has climbed six of the Seven Summits.
