Education TV launched the vocal talent show “Yag Tuun Shig” (Your Face Sounds Familiar) on May 8, and aired the show’s semi-final on July 3, to narrow down the selection of a winner.
“Your Face Sounds Familiar” is a talent show where celebrity contestants imperson-
ate singers. The show challenges celebrities to perform as different iconic music artists every week. Each presses a buzzer from a random selector to determine which famous singer they will be. Vocal coaches, choreographers, make-up artists, and stylists prepare them for their big performance.
A panel of celebrity judges then evaluates their performance each week.
The semi-final of “Your Face Sounds Familiar” took place at Crocus Event Hall, and singer B.Maraljingoo won with 269 points.
B.Maraljingoo transformed into German opera singer Diana Damrua, and sang the “Queen of the Night” aria, emulating the German singer with remarkable ease.
B.Maraljingoo wrote on her Facebook page, “I want to express my gratitude to everyone who supported and cheered for me. I had never tried opera. That was hard for me, but I did it. I am proud of every opera singer, from the bottom of my heart.”
A total of eight contestants, namely Camerton’s L.Gan-Erdene, actress N.Munkhsoyol, model E.Enkhbold, singer B.Maraljingoo, model S.Sarnai, and singers P.Bayartsengel, E.Enkhzol, and B.Amarkhuu participated in the show.
The contestants were awarded points from the judges based on their singing and dance performances. After the judges voted, the contestants had to give points to their fellow contestants, leading to final scores for each contestant.
In Sunday’s semi-final, actress N.Munkhzoyol and model S.Sarnai were eliminated from the show. N.Munkhsoyol transformed into Beyoncé and took 204 points, and S.Sarnai became Tina Turner to take 214 points.
Singer P.Bayartsengel was Ukrainian singer Vitas, model E.Enkhbold performed as Elvis Presley, B.Amarkhuu did his best Justin Timberlake, E.Enkhzol was Christina Aguilera, and L.Gan-Erdene became Freddie Mercury.
Six participants will compete for first place in the finale, which will air on July 10.
“Your Face Sounds Familiar” is hosted in 39 countries all over the world, with Mongolia becoming the fortieth country to host the show.
