Junior basketball players seize bronze medal at United World Games

The Mongolian national boys’ U16 basketball team has won a bronze medal at the United World Games 2016, which took place from June 16 to 19 in Klagenfurt, Austria. The Mongolian junior basketball team participated for the first time in the United World Games, and has returned home with success. Mongolia competed in Group B. The team lost to Slovenia in the first match 47:55. The Mongolian national team managed to pick itself up by defeating teams from the USA and Italy in the preliminary rounds. In the semi-final, Mongolia beat the host country team. On June 19, the Mongolian national team played against a USA team and lost 60:41. In the bronze medal match, Mongolia narrowly won against Hungary with a score of 57:56. A team from Slovenia won gold medal, and silver medal went to the USA. A total of 16 teams from 11 countries competed in the boys’ U16 category of the United World Games 2016.
