Mongolian u16 basketball team beats Austria at United World Games

The Mongolian national U16 basketball team is competing in the United World Games 2016 by invitation, which is currently taking place in Austria. The Mongolian boys’ team is  competing in Group B with teams from the USA, Slovenia and Italy. Group B matches took place on Friday, and Mongolia’s first match was against Slovenia. Mongolia lost to Slovenia 47:58. In its second match, the Mongolia national team played against SAW team of the USA, and won 50:47. In the last match of Group B took, Mongolia beat an Italian team 45:19. On Saturday, Mongolia faced the Group A winner, a team from Austria. Mongolia displayed excellent performance and defeated Austria 29:24 and qualified for the semi-final. Mongolia’s next match will be against a USA team for the silver medal. The Mongolian girls’ team competed against Portugal, Hungary, Slovania and Zimbabwe. They won against a Slovenian team and came in 9th place. The United World Games attracts over 7,000 athletes from 40 countries. The United World Games is the biggest children’s sports festival in Europe, which takes place under the patronage of UNESCO every year.
