“The Rite of Spring” ballet by I. F. Stravinsky will be performed by Ulaanbaatar Ensemble on May 29 at 18:00. “The Rite of Spring” was written for the 1913 Paris season of Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes company. The original choreography was by Vaslav Nijinsky. When first performed at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees on May 29, 1913, the avant-garde nature of the music and choreography caused a sensation and a near-riot in the audience. It is widely considered to be one of the most influential musical works of the 20th century. Ulaanbaatar Ensemble will perform “The Rite of Spring” with the 24-person national choir group Khangarid. The Ulaanbaatar performance of “The Rite of Spring” will be composed by Kh.Altangerel, choreographed by D.Enkhgerel, and conducted by N.Tuulainkhuu.
