New health regulation on student comes into effect

A new joint order issued by the Minister of Health and the Minister of Education has been adopted, updating the guidelines for student health support, including preventive care, early detection screenings, and overall health promotion activities. The updated regulation ensures that students from rural areas studying in the capital city, can now access health services regardless of their place of residence.

Although annual campaigns promoting student health have been held, challenges related to health insurance coverage, preventive screenings, early detection tests, and diagnosis have persisted. To address these issues, the previous regulations were thoroughly revised and updated.

Under the new regulations, educational institutions are required to ensure that all students, including those enrolled in vocational schools, colleges, and universities, fully participate in early detection screenings, medical check-ups, and diagnostic tests. The responsibility for organizing these efforts will lie with the educational institutions. Furthermore, students will be required to pay health insurance premiums either for half-year or full-year coverage, ensuring that their health is properly supported during their studies.

This update is expected to significantly improve student health services and ensure that all students, regardless of their background or place of origin, receive the necessary medical care and preventive treatments. The regulation aims to promote the well-being of students across the country and support their academic success.
