‘Chinggis Khaan: How the Mongols Changed the World’ awarded Exhibition of the Year

Under the patronage of the Presidents of Mongolia and France, the “Chinggis Khaan: How the Mongols Changed the World” exhibition, organized by Mongolia’s Ministry of Culture, Sport, Tourism, and Youth and the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, has been awarded Exhibition of the Year 2024 from Historia Magazine, one of France’s most renowned historical publications. The exhibition, which opened in Nantes, France, has been celebrated for its portrayal of Mongolian history and the legacy of Chinggis Khaan.

Historia, a magazine specializing in historical content since 1909, introduced its awards in 2010 to recognize individuals and institutions contributing to history through exhibitions, films, performances, and other artistic forms. The awards are selected by a panel of esteemed judges in collaboration with the magazine. This year, the competition featured eight categories, including historical books, comics, exhibitions, cinema, and innovation.

The judges praised the exhibition for being one of the most significant presentations of Mongolian history, particularly highlighting the importance of Chinggis Khaan in both France and Europe. They noted that the exhibition not only shed light on Mongolia’s history but also demonstrated the global significance of Pax Mongolica, which can now be seen as one of the most impactful trade and globalization movements in world history.

The Chinggis Khaan National Museum’s exhibition was already recognized in 2024 as one of the Top 20 Must-Visit Destinations in the World by the National Geographic Society in the United States. This recognition follows its success in Europe, where it won the Historia Magazine’s award for the Exhibition of the Year 2024.

Looking ahead, the exhibition is set to tour internationally with plans for display in Prague, Czech Republic, under the patronage of the President of Mongolia in March 2025, followed by Berlin, Germany, in October 2026.
