November celebrated as ‘Cultural Creativity Month’

As part of the “Cultural Creativity Month” campaign, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth, the Department of Culture and Arts and the State Physical Education and Sports Committee are organizing nationwide activities throughout November. This campaign aims to complement the implementation of the “Vision-2050” long-term development policy, the government’s action plan for 2024-2028, and the 2022 resolution on promoting cultural industries. It seeks to enhance the partnership between the public and private sectors, strengthen national cultural values, and increase the social and economic benefits of the culture, sports, and tourism sectors. 

In the first week of November alone, a remarkable 265,682 participants immersed themselves in a vibrant array of cultural, artistic, and sports events. In particular, nearly 160,000 visitors went to cultural centers, while museums welcomed approximately 50,000 attendees. Libraries saw over 35,000 visitors, and theaters and concert halls drew in more than 21,000 spectators. Altogether, a total of 608 events were successfully staged in an initial week, reflecting the campaign’s impressive reach, with digital engagement figures surpassing a milestone of over one million online interactions.

 

Birth place of Chinggis Khaan celebrated

 

In celebration of the 862nd anniversary of the birth of Chinggis Khaan, Mongolia’s Pride Day, a special exhibition titled “Burkhan Khaldun” was displayed at the Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum from November 1 to 10. The exhibition explored the historical and cultural significance of Burkhan Khaldun Mountain, a sacred site revered as the spiritual stronghold of the Ikh Mongol Empire since the time of Chinggis Khaan. The mountain, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has been protected by state decree since 1992 and recognized as a “State Sacred Mountain” by presidential orders, with ceremonies held every four years.

This exhibition featured works by 30 professional artists. The collection included paintings, sculpture, calligraphy, and diverse visual art pieces that creatively interpret the theme of Burkhan Khaldun Mountain. Visitors also explored extensive information about the history, heritage, and cultural importance of the sacred mountain. It also included a children’s art exhibition, a display of books dedicated to the history and cultural importance of Burkhan Khaldun Mountain, and educational programs tailored for middle and high school students.

 

Prominent artist Tsagaan Jamba introduced 

 

The Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum is also presenting a special program titled “Inheriting the Past, Leading the Present, and Creating the Future”, featuring the works and legacy of the remarkable artist Tsagaan Jamba. Born in 1870 in the Uizen Vangiin Khoshuu of Sain Noyon Khaan Province, Tsagaan Jamba’s artwork depicts a unique blend of traditional Mongolian art and reflections of civil society. His work is celebrated for its distinctive portrayal of everyday life and cultural motifs.

A special lecture on the “Artistic Legacy of Tsagaan Jamba” led by senior lecturer A.Amarsanaa of the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture, was successfully held for young artists, students, and researchers. This event aimed to revitalize previous research and expand the ongoing study of Mongolian art history, marking a significant contribution to the cultural education of the younger generation.

 

Special gift for children’s birthdays in November

 

In celebration of “Cultural Creativity Month”, the Children’s and Youth Theatre is offering a special gift to children whose birthdays fall in November. These young celebrants can choose a play of their preference to watch for free, providing a memorable experience and fostering a love for the performing arts. Winners of best visual art awards announced

 

The 2024 edition of the Best Visual Art Awards, part of the ongoing campaign, concluded with a grand exhibition at the National Art Gallery of Mongolia. This highly anticipated event brought together the finest artists from across the country, showcasing a diverse collection of visual art that captivated audiences with its creativity and craftsmanship.

The exhibition featured over 50 remarkable works across various categories, including oil paintings, traditional Mongolian painting, graphic arts, sculptures, intricate carvings, installations, and innovative mixed-media pieces. The selected artworks represented a stunning display of talent, offering a glimpse into the evolving landscape of contemporary Mongolian art.
