Educational institutions take action against vape

A study conducted by the World Health Organization has found that the use of vapes negatively affects brain function over the long term, posing significant health and life risks. It has been linked to anxiety disorders, cognitive impairment, addiction, and lung diseases.

Particularly concerning is that adolescents who use electronic cigarettes are at a much higher risk of becoming addicted to both nicotine and traditional cigarettes. In response, the Minister of Education has issued an order in 2024 prohibiting the use of electronic cigarettes in educational institutions.

In connection with this, the measures have been outlined and are now mandatory for all educational institutions, regardless of ownership type. For instance, educational institutions are required to collaborate with relevant governmental and non-governmental organizations to regularly organize awareness sessions and training about the harmful effects of electronic cigarettes on health, with content tailored to the age group of students. They must also hold individual meetings with students who use electronic cigarettes, offering psychological counseling and services in cooperation with healthcare organizations. Furthermore, educational institutions are expected to update their rules and regulations to explicitly prohibit the use of electronic cigarettes on their premises.

Moreover, parents, guardians, and caregivers are encouraged to strengthen their supervision over children, engage in discussions about the harmful effects of electronic cigarettes, and help them understand the health risks involved.
