With winter approaching and the increased risk of icy roads, bike and scooter rental services have been temporarily suspended in the capital city. Jet Sharing Mongolia has already paused its services until spring. Likewise, Eco Bike Rental Mongolia announced plans to halt operations depending on weather conditions. Meanwhile, Tapa Rental Scooter Mongolia services have yet to make a final decision on suspending their services as of October 23.
In light of the growing number of icy conditions, the Traffic Police Department is preparing to issue a formal request to bike and scooter rental companies, urging them to suspend services during dangerous weather and road conditions to ensure public safety. This request is based on the Law on Traffic Safety, aiming to prevent injuries among citizens during slippery conditions.
It is worth noting that in just one day, 86 people sought emergency care at the National Trauma and Orthopaedic Research Center due to falls caused by icy streets and public spaces. The reported injuries included soft tissue damage, concussions, bruises, and fractures, with more severe cases involving brain trauma, fractures of the skull, pelvis, spine, tibia, and femur.
