45,000 individuals vaccinated against influenza

Since the influenza vaccination campaign commenced in the capital city on August 26, over 45,000 residents have been vaccinated. The campaign primarily targets children aged six months to five years, who are more susceptible to influenza and often require hospitalization. A total of 180,180 vaccine doses are planned to be administered across the capital city. Currently, about 30 percent of the target population has been vaccinated.

Vaccinations are being carried out at health centers. According to P.Erkhembulgan, the Director of the Health Department of the capital city, “Vaccinations for both routine and influenza vaccines are being conducted at the family health centers. Moreover, teams consisting of three members are visiting local kindergartens to provide vaccinations.”

The director then continues, “In accordance with the Minister of Health’s directive, health sector staff are working on weekends during the ten-day period starting from August 26 to administer influenza vaccines. Future weekend operations will depend on the vaccination uptake. Meanwhile, voluntary or paid influenza vaccines are available only at private clinics and the National Center for Communicable Diseases.” “If individuals have received the vaccination against measles, they must get the influenza vaccine within one month. Thus, efforts are underway to vaccinate the target groups. However, we plan to complete this vaccination campaign within September, before the influenza season begins”, as stated by P.Erkhembulgan.
