Residents of Khan-Uul District convened a press conference to voice their deep concerns regarding a persistent and troubling issue. For the past two years, rusty water has been flowing from the pipes designated for clean water in their apartment complex, severely impacting the health and financial well-being of residents. A resident from the 23rd khoroo of the district highlighted the frustration, stating, “For the last two years, the authorities responsible for addressing this issue have failed to provide a solution. Previously, J.Aldarjavkhlan served as the district governor. Since he is now a member of Parliament, we hope he will take decisive action to resolve this problem. Furthermore, the council members of the Homeowners’ Associations in Khan-Uul District will be submitting petitions and complaints, signed by the residents, to our elected Members of Parliament, T.Munkhsaikhan and Ch.Lodoisambuu.”

The resident also said, “The Khangarid City 2 residential complex or apartment, along with the eight blocks situated in Artsat’s valley, is home to over 3,000 residents. Since 2022, the water supply, which should be clean and healthy, has instead been delivered rusty. Despite numerous requests and complaints submitted to the responsible agencies and the working groups established by the capital city, no effective action has been taken. This ongoing issue has led to various health problems among the residents, including stomach ailments and skin rashes.” The further statement of the resident says that “The need to purchase water from external sources has also placed an additional financial burden on the residents. Although they continue to pay for clean water, they are forced to use rusty water instead. When inquiries were made to the relevant authorities, no official response was provided regarding the origin of the rusty water or the measures being taken to address it. The authorities mentioned that the pipeline network is being replaced, but there are unofficial reports suggesting that this replacement will not extend to the 23rd khoroo of Khan-Uul District or Artsat’s valley, leaving the water unpurified still. The situation appears to be worsening.”

Then the resident concluded, “Moreover, within this residential complex is Kindergarten No. 308, where the use of rusty water poses a significant risk to the health of young children. Experts warn that prolonged exposure to such contaminated water could potentially lead to serious long-term health issues, including cancer. Therefore, the residents urgently request that the authorities take immediate and effective action to ensure they have access to safe and clean living conditions. We also demand that the results of these efforts be transparently delivered to the residents. It is imperative that this issue be resolved without delay, ideally within this year.”
