The Ulaanbaatar Marathon, an international competition, has been organized by the Governor’s Office of the Capital City since 2014. This year, it will be held on May 25 at Sukhbaatar Square. Registration for international runners in “Ulaanbaatar Marathon 2024” closed on May 20. As of May 19, more than 12,200 citizens have registered to participate. This year, the number of runners in 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km categories has increased compared to last year. In particular, last year more than 1,368 runners registered for 10 km, 542 runners for 21 km, and 140 runners for 42 km. This year, there were 1,866 runners registered for 10 km, 917 runners for 21 km, and more than 180 for 42 km.
Also, over 8,000 people registered to run in the five km category. Those runners were registered in two categories: 12-17 years old and over 18 years old. More than 1,100 people registered to run in the family run, while 29 people registered in the 1.5 km run for people with special needs. Last weekend, the activity of people registering for international runs and getting badge numbers increased. More than 7,100 registered citizens have received their badge numbers as of May 20.
