Science laboratory launched in Teacher Development Center

Ministry of Education and Science is implementing the “Sustaining Access to and Quality of Education During Economic Difficulties Project” with funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). In this context, the commission to accept the "multi-purpose science laboratory" for permanent use at the Teacher Development Center in Sukhbaatar District of the capital city worked.

The loan was approved on November 20, 2017, signed on April 4, 2018, and became effective on April 30, 2018. The expected project impact is a more accessible, more equitable and better-quality education system. The project outcome is to sustain access to and quality of pre-primary, primary, and secondary education during economic difficulties. Due to COVID-19, all other project activities have been delayed and postponed and the project closing date was extended until June 30 to enable the Executing Agency to achieve the project intended outcome. The project closing date was extended until February 28, 2025 to have sufficient time for completion of the ongoing civil works and implement the additional activities to reduce three-shift risks in schools in Ulaanbaatar City.

Within this project, the laboratory was established with the aim of becoming a standard scientific laboratory of the educational system of Mongolia. The comprehensive teacher's professional development laboratory with equipment that meets international standards consists of an electronic classroom for experiments using natural science materials and a material storage room.

Moreover, the design of the multi-purpose natural science laboratory was developed by the “TGT” LLC, and the repair work was completed by “Khulug-Od” LLC in four months.
