At the “Harvest Celebration”, where farmers and the best national food producers are celebrating their harvests together, Minister of Food, and Agriculture and Light Industry Kh.Bolorchuluun presented the results achieved in the field of agriculture.

The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry announced 2023 as the “Year of agricultural revival” within the framework of the Food Supply and Security National Movement under the auspices of the President of Mongolia and organized the “Agriculture Revival-2023” conference before the spring planting.

Within the framework of Resolution No. 36, 10 commercial banks granted 89.7 billion MNT to agricultural producers and 24.3 billion MNT to farmers, totaling 114 billion MNT, which made it possible to carry out spring planting, fallow cultivation, plant protection, and harvesting in the required period. This year, 17,000 tons of potatoes and 185,000 tons of vegetables were harvested, and 100 percent of the domestic needs for potatoes and 85 percent of vegetables have been met.

This is the first time in Mongolia’s history that it has set a record for harvesting vegetables and meeting its own needs.

Minister Kh.Bolorchuluun emphasized the need to increase the number of personnel, stabilize prices, and increase sales in order to improve the historical success of harvesting. It was also mentioned that along with the harvest, measures to limit the import of potatoes, vegetables and wheat were taken by the ministry, and seed innovation was intensified, and elite seeds were planted, which had a positive effect on the quality of the harvest. As a result of seed reform, wheat production has increased by 32,000 tons from last year, and the national average yield per hectare has reached 15 tons. This is the peak figure in the last five years.
