Specially protected areas build ponds for wild animals and birds

Conservationists and the private sector have worked together to build floating ponds in eight locations necessary to prevent the danger of dehydration and starvation of wild animals and birds in specially protected areas. The ponds for storing natural water have been made in cooperation with the conservation authorities and officials using available materials for wild animals and birds.

These ponds will be established in Baga Gazriin Chuluu, Gorkhi-Terelj, Great Gobi A Strictly Protected Area, Great Gobi B Strictly Protected Area, Ikh Gazriin Chuluu, Khan Khukhii Range, Khukh Serkhii Range, and Tost Toson Bumba Mountain Range. Out of 18 locations, seven ponds were built in the first round. The ponds have a capacity of 10-40 sq.m, using membrane, natural stone, and stone glue cement, and are of special importance because they collect natural precipitation.
