Altanbulag Port capacity to be maximized

Deputy Prime Minister S.Amarsaikhan and Chairman of the National Commission of Border Port Recovery B.Tulga visited the construction of Altanbulag Port, which was carried out with ADB concessional loan.

Minister B.Tulga said, “The government is paying special attention to the establishment of a port-based free economic zone, greatly improving the competitiveness of ports and access flow. As part of the regional project to improve border services, the first set of works, which was launched in July 2020, will be put into operation on September 20.”

He continued, “The passenger check-in facilities and other infrastructure works will be commissioned in March 2024 as part of the second round of work. With the construction of the port, the road capacity of ​​Altanbulag Port will double, and the number of vehicles entering the port will increase by four times.”

As part of the “Regional Project to Improve Border Services” implemented under the Loan Agreement between the government and ADB, the expansion and modernization of Altanbulag and Sukhbaatar ports are carried out, and the construction work to increase capacity was carried out on July 7, 2020. 

Currently, about 1,500 citizens and 700 vehicles enter the Altanbulag Port per day.
