The meeting of Female Foreign Ministers held for the first time in Mongolia at the State Palace. The high-level meeting is being held on the topics of Climate Change, Food Security, and Women’s Participation in Strengthening International Peace and Security.

The meeting is jointly organized by Germany and France. The following ministers are physically participating in the meeting:

8. Director of External Affairs of Green Climate Fund Sanjaasuren Oyun
9. Ambassador of Mozambique to Belgium Ana Nemba Uaiene
10. Executive Director of the International Trade Centre Pamela Coke-Hamilton
11. SCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid

In addition, foreign ministers from more than 10 countries are participating online.

Deputy Secretary-General of UN Amina Mohammed and Under-Secretary-General of UN and High Representative of UN for Least Developed, Landlocked Developing and Small Island Countries Rabab Fatima and the foreign ministers of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Japan, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Republic of Korea and Andorra wished success to the meeting participants and delivered video greetings.

President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh commenced the meeting and noted that the role and leadership of women leaders is very important in ensuring world peace and security and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals. Deeply aware that ensuring gender equality and protecting women’s rights is an integral part of human rights and a basic criterion of democracy, we called for cooperation to create a peaceful and harmonious world, said the President.

Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg said, “Everyone must join forces to achieve gender equality and work together to eliminate obstacles in all areas of life that limit the full participation of women.”

In recent years, the number of countries implementing feminist and feminism-oriented foreign policies aimed at protecting the rights and empowerment of women, who make up half of the world’s population, and ensuring gender equality has increased. Mongolia has also continuously implemented women-oriented policies in its foreign relations and regularly supported activities aimed at eliminating gender differences. This meeting will not only introduce Mongolia’s policy and position but also make a real contribution to the international community’s efforts to ensure gender equality.

The meeting of Female Foreign Ministers is being held on June 29 and 30.
