On the initiative of the President of Mongolia, removing sunken vehicles organized in stages from Khankh soum area, the source of Khuvsgul Lake to protect the ecological system of Khuvsgul Lake by cleaning up hazardous waste at the bottom of the lake, and reducing pollution.
In the working group led by first deputy chief of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Brigadier General J.Chultemsuren, working together are the officers of the 186th and 234th units of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the staff of academics, teachers, and military consulting engineers of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology and the rescuers of NEMA.
On July 1, the team successfully pulled out the 11-ton crawler tractor of the “T-100” model, which sank in 1968 at a depth of 33.4 meters, about 400 meters from the shore of Lake Khuvsgul, using special equipment. A total of 390 liters of fuel, oil, and lubricants were removed from the recalled tractors, to contribute to the reduction of pollution.
