Mayor receives ADB country director

Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar received a delegation led by the Asian Development Bank (ADB)’s Country Director for Mongolia Pavit Ramachandran.

At the beginning of the meeting, the mayor expressed his gratitude for ADB’s important contribution and support to the development of Ulaanbaatar over the past 30 years. He pointed out that ADB is the biggest partner of Ulaanbaatar, which cooperates in increasing the availability of engineering infrastructure and affordable housing and supports the creation of a healthy and safe environment for residents in ger areas.

He also expressed his willingness to cooperate with ADB in capacity-building in the areas of public-private partnerships and concessions, providing professional advice and assistance in certain areas and public transport fleet renovation.

The mayor highlighted that the city authorities fully support the redevelopment of the ger area and affordable housing projects. He said, “It would be a pleasure to cooperate with ADB in establishing an international cargo transportation and logistics center in the eastern and western parts of Ulaanbaatar, introducing a taxi service that meets international standards, establishing an international standard library and implementing a project to use waste ash from power plants.”

ADB Country Director for Mongolia Pavit Ramachandran emphasized the importance of ger area redevelopment and affordable housing projects.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to explore the possibilities of cooperation within the framework of public transport fleet renovation.
