Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister, General Wei Fenghe held talks with Minister of Defense G.Saikhanbayar in Ulaanbaatar on July 26.
The ministers exchanged views on defense cooperation, international and regional security, and other issues of mutual interest.
Expressing their readiness to continue close cooperation, such as training exchanges and joint field training exercise, the defense ministers stressed the importance of strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Mongolia and China in the field of defense, and noted that all levels of military visits, exchanges and defense security consultations will be held once the pandemic subsides.
Minister G.Saikhanbayar expressed congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. He said that Mongolia highly appreciates China’s “great achievements that has been acknowledged throughout the world and its decisive victory in building of a prosperous society in all respects, and thanked China for its support and assistance to Mongolia for pandemic response and trade.”
Mongolia attaches great importance to bilateral relations and will continue to promote pragmatic cooperation with China in defense and security areas, and strengthen communication and coordination on regional issues, making positive efforts for regional peace and tranquility, he noted.
Fenghe said that China and Mongolia are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, and the building of community with a shared future for the two countries has achieved continuous and concrete progress.
The Chinese minister emphasized that since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two countries stood by and helped each other, overcame difficulties together, setting a model of anti-pandemic cooperation between neighboring countries, and injecting positive energy into the turbulent and restless world.
He said that the two sides should continue to “firmly support each other’s core interests and major concerns, and maintain sharp vigilance against extraterritorial forces’ interference in regional affairs, and jointly safeguard regional security and stability.”
Minister Fenghe noted that the Chinese military is willing to work with Mongolia to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhance strategic mutual trust and expand pragmatic cooperation, with the aim of making greater contributions to the sound and stable development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Before their talks, Minister G.Saikhanbayar held a welcome ceremony for Fenghe and presented him a gift horse.
SPEAKER RECEIVES CHINESE DEFENSE MINISTER
Speaker of Parliament G.Zandanshatar met with State Councilor and Defense Minister of China Wei Fenghe to discuss bilateral relations and joint projects on July 26.
During the meeting, Speaker G.Zandanshatar said that the development of friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation with China is one of the priorities of Mongolia’s foreign policy and highlighted that the country is pursuing a policy of active cooperation to further strengthen the Mongolian-Chinese comprehensive partnership.
Noting that China-Mongolia good-neighborly relations and cooperation have been developing steadily and successfully, Fenghe expressed intention to expand cooperation between the two countries by implementing the agreement reached by the two heads of states.
The speaker emphasized that the presidents of the two countries spoke on the phone on July 16, reaffirming their interest in further developing and deepening the relations between Mongolia and China, and said that the Mongolian side attaches great importance to the implementation of the agreements reached during the telephone conversation and the relevant organizations are actively working.
Minister Fenghe expressed hope that in the future, China-Mongolia relations at all levels and defense cooperation will reach a high level.
Defense cooperation is an important component of bilateral relations and is directly related to strengthening political relations and mutual understanding, Speaker G.Zandanshatar stressed at the meeting.
