During the Health Ministry briefing on April 19, Head of the National Center for Infectious Disease D.Nyamkhuu said, “A Mongolian national who came from Russia tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total infected people in Mongolia to 32. The coronavirus infected Turkish nationals recovered and they have to be discharged from hospital. But they wanted to stay in the isolation center for a little longer.”
Previously, one French man, three Turkish nationals and 27 Mongolian who were evacuated from foreign countries with high risk of infection tested positive for the coronavirus in March and seven patients have recovered. In order to prevent new coronavirus infections, the National Influenza Surveillance Network is conducting surveillance of coronavirus infection in the population. Currently, all patients with pneumonia have tested negative for the coronavirus, according to the Health Ministry.
Academician P.Nyamdavaa recommended that all tests be confirmed in the reference laboratory of the National Center for Infectious Diseases even if the test results of the recovered patients are negative, during the meeting with the Health Minister and related officials on April 17. P.Nyamdavaa is working with the medical team treating coronavirus patients.
The government of Mongolia decided to ban public activities including public holidays, celebrations, and operations of education organizations of all levels in January as part of the prevention against the novel coronavirus.
