According to the National Statistic Office of Mongolia, 6,319 mothers gave birth in March and 6,399 children were given state registration numbers. Of the newborn, 3,201 are boys, 3,198 are girls, with 157 twins. The average weight newborn babies is 3,413 grams, and average height is 50.8 centimeters.
Of the total live births, 6,435 or 96.2 percent were give early initiation of breastfeeding, an increase of 897 or 16.2 percent from the previous month. The stillbirth rate was six 6 per 1,000 total births.
In the first season of this year, 18,530 mothers delivered 18,663 children, an increase of 311 or 1.7 percent compared with the same period of last year. Of the total live births in the first three months of the current year, 18,000 or 96.4 percent babies were given early initiation of breastfeeding, a rise of 265 1.5 percent from the same period of the previous year. The stillbirth rate was 5.4 per 1,000 total births.
Normal growth per 1,000 people in Ulaanbaatar and Govi-Altai, Orkhon, Uvs, Govisumber, Bayan-Ulgii, Khovd, Umnugovi and Dornod provinces is 0.1-1.0 points higher than the national average. In Bayankhongor Province, it is the same as the average, while it is 0.1 to 2.6 points lower in other provinces.
