Famous painting ‘Stallion Fight’ to be made into a statue

One of Mongolia’s famous paintings “Stallion Fight” by State Merited Artist O.Tsevegjav will be recreated as a statue in Dornod Province. The project was initiated by the Dornod Youth Federation in Ulaanbaatar. O.Tsevegjav was born in 1915 at a place called Shaazgait and when he was a year old, his family moved to Bayandun soum, Dornod Province. The late artist is considered one of Mongolia’s greatest artists of the 20th century. O.Tsevegjav entered school in 1926 but obtained only four years of formal education. He was, however, naturally talented in painting and by developing his skills, went on to create many famous paintings and played an important role in Mongolian fine arts development. He was one of the seven people who established the first fine arts establishment in Mongolia in 1942. Today, fine arts are extremely well developed in the country and Mongolia has many outstanding artists. O.Tsevegjav painted “Stallion Fight” using oil paint in 1958, after thinking of it for 15 years. The painting is considered a cultural heritage due to its subject matter and artistry.
