Some 17 Mongolian boxers led by State Merited Athlete U.Munkh-Erdene took part in the first international boxing competition of this year, Indian Open, held between January 28 and February 1 in New Delhi, India.
Mongolian athletes have brought five medals this time, including three silver and two bronze medals. Mongolia’s Kh.Enkh-Amar (men’s 56 kg) and B.Misheelt (men’s 60 kg) seized silver medals, while O.Jargalan (women’s 51 kg), L.Altantsetseg (women’s 48 kg) and E.Erdenetuya (women’s 69 kg) claimed bronze medals respectively.
A total of 230 boxers from 23 countries competed at this year’s competition. The national team is led by senior coach of the national boxing team, State Merited Coach D.Batsuren. In addition, an international judge of Mongolia D.Mandakhbayar served as a judge of Indian Open. The 18th Asian Games, also known as Jakarta Palembang 2018, is scheduled to be held from August 18 to September 2, 2018 in Indonesia. The event is considered the biggest competition for Mongolian boxers for this year.
