Nauryz gives way to spring

The National Statistics Office shared some interesting information about Kazakh people living in Mongolia in observation of International Day of Nauryz. Nauryz, which means “New Year”, signifies both the spring equinox and renewal of nature, and is celebrated over several days from March 21. It also marks Persian New Year, which begins on the Vernal Equinox. According to the office, there were 124,578 Kazakh people living in Mongolia as of March 20, out of which the majority, or 75.7 percent, had settled in Bayan-Ulgii Province, 9.1 percent in Ulaanbaatar, 8.7 percent in Khovd Province, and 6.5 percent lived in small groups across other provinces.
