The Mongolian 3x3 basketball team will take part in the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2018 (the largest tournament for 3x3 basketball) in Manila, the Philippines from June 8 to 12. The Philippines Basketball Federation (SPB) and FIBA will jointly organize the fifth edition of the most prestigious 3x3 national team competition. “Our two previous experiences hosting FIBA 3x3 events have been a success and 3x3 has become a centerpiece of our development program,” said SPB Executive Director Sonny Barrios. All games at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2018 will be played on the same court with 20 men's and 20 women's teams competing in the team event and in three individual contests (men's dunk contest including professional dunkers, women's skills contest, and mixed shoot-out contest). The selection of teams for the tournament is based on the FIBA 3x3 Federation Ranking at the cut-off date of November 1, 2017. The ranking includes sport and development criteria, allowing both the strongest teams on the field as well as the most active countries to participate in the event, which fulfills a key aim of 3x3 - diversity. According to the FIBA 3x3 Federation Ranking, Mongolian team’s ranking point is 9,108,915, listed in 11th place. Forty teams from 37 different countries have confirmed their participation. The provisional list is as follows: Men: Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Ecuador, Estonia, Japan, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Mongolia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines (hosts), Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia (reigning champions), Slovenia, Ukraine, Uruguay. Women: Andorra, Argentina, Bahrain, China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, the Philippines (hosts), Russia (reigning champions), Spain, Switzerland, Turkmenistan, the USA, Venezuela. In addition, the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2018 will be held on the same they with the Philippines Independence Day, commemorates the Philippine Declaration of Independence from Spain on June 12, 1898. Since 1962, it has been the country's National Day.
